Mindfulness for Families: Supporting Connection, Calm, and Emotional Wellbeing

Mindfulness for families teaches parents and children stress-reduction skills such as mindful breathing, listening, and movement. Through shared practices woven into daily routines, mindfulness supports deeper connection, calm, and emotional wellbeing within the family.

Children absorb their environments. They learn by observing their parents and caregivers. When children grow up in a mindful environment — where we communicate with presence, awareness, and compassion — it becomes easier for them to live mindfully themselves, regulate emotions, and cooperate when needed.

For families, I offer two ways of learning and practising mindfulness:
a parent-focused option, and a parent and child option.

Parent-Focused Mindfulness Course

These mindfulness courses are designed to support parents’ mental and emotional wellbeing, while also strengthening the parent-child bond through improved self-regulation and co-regulation.

Parents learn:

  • Mindfulness techniques to support calm and emotional balance
  • Practical tools they can teach their children (and gently remind them to use)
  • Ways to integrate mindfulness into everyday routines such as mealtimes, mornings, and bedtime

Parenthood can feel overwhelming, especially when we are juggling many responsibilities and navigating moments of resistance from our children — which is both normal and expected. In these moments, our ability as parents to regulate ourselves, stay present, and remain connected is essential.

Connection is what children need most to thrive — and it is also what supports cooperation, trust, and emotional safety.

Growing up — and parenting — can be chaotic. Together, we can make it feel calmer, more connected, and more supportive.

Parent and Child Mindfulness Course

This course offers families a beautiful opportunity to slow down together, reconnect, and strengthen their bond.

Parents and children learn side by side, practising:

  • Self-regulation and co-regulation skills
  • Mindful listening and communication
  • Self-compassion and emotional awareness
  • Connection through shared presence

Sessions include a balance of joint activities, individual reflection for parents, and playful, creative practices for children. Mindfulness techniques are again integrated into everyday family routines to support long-term change.

Through this course, you and your child will:

  • Learn to cope more effectively with difficult emotions
  • Develop strategies for self-soothing and co-regulation
  • Practise mindful breathing and simple mindfulness techniques
  • Strengthen resilience and cultivate a positive mindset
  • Deepen connection with one another
  • Nurture kindness and compassion for self and each other

Parent Testimonial

“I took my 8-year-old daughter to Catherine’s mindfulness course and it was a great experience for both of us. Catherine knows how to bring mindfulness in easy words for the children to understand. Her calming, radiating nature was engaging and left you truly happy after her class. Thank you for teaching us more how to care for ourselves.”
